Using 3D printed parts and household items, pupils will make their very
own sandtimer. Through a hands on activity, pupils with hone fine motor
skills whilst practicing accuracy and measurement skills.

This lesson could be tied into the study of:

Design & Technology (connecting materials), Maths (time, ratio, quantities, graphs), Sciences (weight, gravity and mass).

All of our lessons are designed to be flexible for all ages, so duration 
and difficulty level can be adjusted to suit your class.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Build a sandtimer that can time one minute 
as accurately as possible.

Calculate how much sand is needed
to measure different lengths of time.

SUCCESS CRITERIA

Pupils to accurately measure different lengths of time.

Pupils to build a sandtimer that works efficiently.
